Heaven on Earth
Write & Ride Retreat - May 17-23, 2026
A Call for Writers & Horse Lovers
Multi-published author, founder of Cowgirl Publishing, long-time artist, and passionate horselover, Jayme H. Mansfield, invites you to join her for a slice of heaven at the Write & Ride Retreat!
For six nights and seven days at the Vee Bar historic Wyoming guest ranch, we’ll write, ride horses, breathe a little deeper and smile a lot wider! Jayme is proof that the ranch, located in the breathtaking Centennial Valley 20 miles west of Laramie, is life-changing as it spurs creative passions beyond measure. After all, writers need time, space, inspiration, and encouragement from a community of word lovers to release the literary muse. And, best of all, whether you write a little or a lot, this retreat welcomes you to journal, work on a manuscript, share ideas, or simply read and enjoy the peace and calm.
Heavenly Horse Time
The Vee Bar Ranch family and wranglers know their horses! Based on your level of riding and horse experience (all levels welcome), you’ll become best buds with the perfect horse who will journey with you through grassy meadows and rivers, along mountain paths, herd cows and calves, and partner for good ol’ Western fun and games. We’ll ride each day in sunshine or snow (yes, the weather does what it does, especially at just shy of 8,000 ft. elevation), and bask in the spectacular spring colors.
Inspired Personal and Instructive Writing Time
Pretty much every view stirs the creative soul! Whether you are a seasoned author, a writer-inprogress, or simply passionate about literary expression and love to read and chat with others about the writing process, you’ll be immersed in creative inspiration. Gift yourself a peaceful and motivating experience to write, reflect, and refresh. Over the course of your stay, you’ll receive group and personal writing inspiration and instruction from Jayme and other literary lovers. Whether your goal is to make strides on a work in progress, chat about publication options, dream and muse about upcoming pieces, or simply bask in the enticing world of words, you’ll be in heaven.
Relaxation & Reflection
I can attest there’s something extra special about the ranch ~ it’s a place where you breathe differently and wear a silly grin. Perhaps it’s the mixture of fresh air and sunshine, the sound of the river just a stone’s throw away, the whinnying of horses in the nearby meadows, Western hospitality like no other, the most delicious meals this side of the Mississippi, and friends made for a lifetime ... so much that my husband, James, and I live here full time! After all, we found our heaven on earth. Come enjoy with us!

Testimonials
Heaven on Earth is a wonderful concept. My experience at Jayme Mansfield’s Write & Ride retreat at the Vee Bar Ranch gave me a taste of just that. I had an inspiring week amid some of the most beautiful, wide-open, pastoral spaces in nature. Having authored several books, Jayme has extensive experience in writing, publishing, and teaching that is invaluable in helping others learn the skills they want to develop. I was impressed with her ability to help and support people at all levels. The retreat was perfect for those wanting to read and discuss literature, explore writing and journaling, or for seasoned writers looking for story-development ideas or publication guidance. Moreover, the flexible schedule allowed ample time to relax, reflect, and enjoy new friends. It was a stress-free week of top-notch food, experienced wranglers and well-trained horses. The daily rides through the valleys and mountains were unforgettable. I left the retreat determined to return for another wonderful experience. ~ Nancy K.
When I attended the Heaven on Earth Write and Ride Retreat at the Vee Bar Guest Ranch near Laramie, Wyoming, I realized a life-long goal of visiting a ranch and riding horses. The visit was exactly as represented and truly a Heaven on Earth experience all around. The third-generation family who owns and operates the Vee Bar is a welcoming and accommodating community who knows what real western hospitality really means and practices it without fail. The cabins provide for all of your needs while still remaining rustic and authentic. The meals were extremely delicious and menus well thought out. Jayme is a woman of many talents and will also go to any lengths to guarantee that her guests have the experience they are seeking, whether it be in riding or writing, or both. The guests that shared my experience were capable, intelligent women whose company I enjoyed and with whom I hope to keep in touch. ~ A.J. Keith On the first day in a saddle in 10 plus years, I learned that Jack, my horse would do whatever I told him to do! The second day I learned how to keep my hat on in windy Wyoming! By the third day we were moving cows! Love the Vee Bar! ~Catherine H.
